Story Submission Guidelines and Form

Contribute Your Story
This is a request to readers for stories to be published in Penelope Burk’s new research study, I’m Leaving…How to Hold Onto Good Fundraisers and Make Much More Money. We are seeking stories on these two themes:
- memorable experiences in fundraising that influenced you to stay longer in a job…or leave sooner
- stories about the best boss you ever had — what made him/her an exceptional leader and the impact they had on you and your career
Our research data is compelling; but anecdotal experiences help readers grasp the issues on another level.
Submission Guidelines
Length:
- up to 500 words; no minimum length
Editing:
- We may edit submission to fit within available space and to complement the overall narrative style.
- References to actual organizations and/or people: For stories from contributors that are positive in nature, Penelope likes to give credit where credit is due, so if your contribution is praiseworthy and you are comfortable naming the not-for-profit and/or individual(s), please go ahead. However, Penelope never references organizations or individuals by name if a story is critical, whether constructively critical or not.
- Penelope has the final approval on edited stories.
Deadline for Submission:
- January 31, 2010
Credit to Contributors:
- Stories will be published in Penelope Burk’s book, I’m Leaving…How to Hold Onto Good Fundraisers and Make Much More Money. Due to the sensitivity of the subject, credit will not appear on stories themselves, but contributors will be listed in the Acknowledgements section at their discretion. Requested anonymity will, of course, be honored.
Benefits:
- Penelope’s book will be offered to published contributors at 50% off the retail cost.
