PARTNERSHIIP REQUIREMENTS:

Registration is mandatory to secure your place as a partner as we are limited in the number of not-for-profits that can join this research study.
Partners email their donors to request their participation in Cygnus' anonymous, online survey. In order to accommodate not- for-profits of all sizes in this important project, partners are expected to reach out to a number that is relative to the size of their active donor file, with a minimum of 1,000 names for smaller organizations.
You never have to share any information including email addresses with Cygnus. In addition, we encourage you to invite your leadership volunteers (Board of Directors) to join this survey.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS PROJECT?
Penelope Burk, President of Cygnus Applied Research, Inc. is this study’s author. Penelope has forty years’ experience in fundraising and not-for-profit management and consulting and is renowned as the originator of Donor-Centered Fundraising. Her company specializes in conducting confidential research with donors and helping not-for-profits raise more money by adjusting their fundraising practices to reflect donors’ changing preferences and giving trends.
WHAT HAS THE CYGNUS STUDY INVESTIGATED IN THE PAST?
Among many important findings that are critically important to fundraisers, the Cygnus Donor Survey has generated compelling information about donors’ growing interest in transacting their gifts differently and what that means for Development operations. It has explored the views and preferences of young donors and the impact of religious conviction on giving in a changing faith environment. The Cygnus Survey has identified what not-for-profits can do to sustain their donors’ loyalty as Americans move to support fewer causes, and much more.

HOW IS THE CONFIDENTIALITY OF MY DONORS ASSURED?
You do not have to provide Cygnus with data files or any information about your donors. The email asking your donors to join the study will come directly from you. Donors will click a unique link specifically for your organization within the email which will take them to Cygnus’ ANONYMOUS survey. At no time during the survey do we ask a respondent to disclose their identity.
Upon submitting the survey, respondents are taken out of the survey to enforce their privacy and redirected to our website where they are asked if they would like to receive the Executive Summary of the results once they become available. This is an opt-in service only that we like to provide to all respondents.
