At Cygnus Applied Research, Inc. (Cygnus) we know you care about how your information is collected and used. We appreciate your trust in sharing private information with us when joining our mailing list or ordering one of our products. Cygnus is committed to keeping this information secure. This section contains detailed information on how we use and handle personal data and how you can contact us regarding privacy issues.
What information does Cygnus collect and where do we get it?
Cygnus collects personal information when you join our mailing list (such as name, and contact details) as well as financial information (including credit card details and billing address) when you order a product or register for an event. In addition, Cygnus also collects information from third parties such as delivery carriers, industry associations, conferences lists and marketing agents.
Does Cygnus divulge my personal information to other parties?
Cygnus does not share, trade, sell or release your personal or financial information to any third party except where it is necessary to complete product mailings or transactions (please see next section).
How does Cygnus use the information it collects?
Order Payment, Processing and Delivery
If you have ordered a product or registered for an event, Cygnus will use the personal information gathered in order to complete the transactions, deliver the services you have requested, perform quality assurance, and conduct sales and other business analyses. In the case of product orders (such as the purchase of a book) or event registrations (such as seminars), Cygnus will use address information for the purposes of shipping product and providing you with confirmations as well as receipts or invoices. When processing payments and shipping products, Cygnus must divulge personal and/or financial information to other service providers (such as banks and couriers) in order to complete your transactions. These third party suppliers and service providers are required to keep confidential the information received on our behalf and are prohibited from using it for any purpose other than carrying out the services they are performing for Cygnus.
Event and Product Updates
If you have ordered a product or registered for an event, Cygnus will use your personal details to contact you about your transaction in order to provide a confirmation of purchase or inform you about the status of your order. In the case of events Cygnus will contact you to transmit relevant information including event confirmations, changes and cancellations.
Administrative Updates
In order to ensure that our accounting, billing and database records are accurate, we compare information provided through our website and from third parties with information currently stored in our database. By comparing and updating this information, we are able to reduce duplication (due to change of address, for example) and ensure that orders and registrations are processed, delivered and confirmed in a timely fashion.
Mailing Lists & Newsletters
If you have ordered a product, requested a brochure or completed a transaction, Cygnus may include you on our mailing list. Our mailing list is used solely to send updates about our products or services and transmit our newsletter. Cygnus honors all requests for mailing list removal and individuals can be removed at any time by contacting Cygnus at 1 (800) 263-0267 or by emailing custsupport@cygresearch.com When sending materials, Cygnus provides mailing address information only to third party service providers who are required to keep confidential all information received on behalf of Cygnus and are prohibited from using it for any purpose other than to carry out the services they are performing for Cygnus.
How does Cygnus keep my personal information secure?
Cygnus is committed to protecting the information you provide us. To prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, to maintain data accuracy, and to ensure the appropriate use of the information, Cygnus has in place appropriate physical and managerial procedures to safeguard the information we collect. Cygnus stores electronic personal data in a secure server. For online transactions we use 128-bit encrypted Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for sensitive data such as credit card information. This security measure is working when you see either the symbol of an unbroken key or closed lock (depending on your browser) on the bottom of your browser window. In addition Cygnus uses an even higher level of encryption when transmitting your financial details.
Credit card numbers are used only for processing payments and are not used for other purposes. When we send purchase confirmations of credit card orders, we show only the final 4 or 5 digits (depending on the card type) on receipts.
About Cookies on our Website.
Cygnus occasionally uses cookies to help us keep track of your purchases and related activities. We may also use cookies to deliver content that is specific to your interests and to facilitate the retrieval of information so you do not have to re-enter information every time you visit. Divulging Your Contact Information for Legal and Administrative Reasons.
Cygnus may disclose specific contact information when we determine that such disclosure is necessary to comply with law, to cooperate with or seek assistance from law enforcement or to protect the interests or safety of Cygnus or other visitors to our website or users of services or products provided by Cygnus. Also, your contact information may be passed onto a third party in the event of a transfer of ownership or assets of Cygnus.
Return and Cancellation Policies

Return Policy
Returns are accepted (less shipping) within 30 days of purchase date. A refund will be issued once product has been returned to the address above and received in original condition.
Cancellation Policy
Orders can be canceled within 12 hours of placing the order. Please call 1 800 263 0267 or email custsupport@cygresearch.com. The subject line should read “CANCELATION”. Within the body of the email, please include the name of the person who placed the order, a contact number, the order number, and the date of order placed. You will receive confirmation once the cancellation has been processed.
SEMINARS
Cancellation Policy
Full refunds are available up to 30 days prior to a scheduled seminar date.
No refunds are given within 30 days of a seminar; however, delegate substitution is permitted.
